Do you pick up junk cars on Indianapolis Boulevard?

Yes. We pick up junk, wrecked and scrap cars from homes, side streets and lots along Indianapolis Boulevard in Highland, Hammond, East Chicago and Whiting. Give the nearest cross street when you send the form. The haul is on us, you're paid as the car leaves, and a same-day visit is often possible.

The boulevard, south to north

Indianapolis Boulevard changes identity as it goes. In Highland it carries US 41 and is the town’s main north-south road, running past Wicker Memorial Park, which Calvin Coolidge dedicated in 1927.

At the Borman Expressway interchange, US 41 turns onto the expressway. The boulevard keeps going north as State Road 152, a short connector through Hammond that passes the Purdue University Northwest campus. North of 165th Street it turns industrial, climbs over a railyard on an overpass, and meets US 20 at Michigan Street. From there the road continues north as US 20, and nearer the lake US 12 and US 20 share the road past Wolf Lake and Horseshoe Hammond to the Illinois line.

That’s four covered communities on one road: Highland, Hammond, East Chicago and Whiting.

Pickup notes for this road

Your car might sit right on the boulevard or a block or two off it, in a driveway, an alley garage or an apartment lot. Either way, a few details make pickup quick:

  • Give the cross street. “Off Indianapolis Boulevard near 165th” gets the truck to you faster than a house number alone.
  • Say what kind of spot it is. Driveway, alley, street parking or a business lot all load differently.
  • Business lots: if the car sits at a shop or a friend’s business, tell us whose lot it is so nobody is surprised when it leaves.
  • Traffic: the boulevard is busy, so side-street access is easier for the tow than loading at the curb of a four-lane road.

What we buy along the boulevard

Junk, wrecked and scrap cars, running or not. A car with a bent frame, a car that leaks oil, or a row of them at once. Missing the title? We can still help. In Indiana the sale needs either the title or a BMV certificate of authority; tell us what papers you have and we’ll point you to the right one on the call.

Where the boulevard meets the other roads we cover

The boulevard crosses Ridge Road in Highland and meets the Borman Expressway at the Highland and Hammond line. If your car sits closer to one of those, their pages have their own pickup notes. For everything else we cover, from Gary to Hobart, see the rest of our Northwest Indiana area.

Wolf Lake and the sandy plain

The north end of the boulevard passes Wolf Lake. The whole stretch sits on the Calumet Lacustrine Plain, the low, sandy ground beside Lake Michigan that the Grand Calumet River also crosses on its way through Hammond and East Chicago.

Answers in brief

Can you pick up from a shop lot on the boulevard?
Yes. Repair shops and business lots are fine. The car has to be yours to sell, and whoever runs the lot should know it's leaving.
My street is just off the boulevard in Hammond. Is that covered?
Yes. All of Hammond is inside our area, not only the boulevard itself.
Do you go south of Highland on Indianapolis Boulevard?
No. Our Indiana coverage stops at Highland on this road. Schererville and the towns farther south are outside our area.
